  1. Turns out I had a 1932 with filled in 2 all along! Not quite as dramatic but definately filled.
  2. Here are a few standard uncirculated 1945 pennies. They are all as struck and mint toned. The thing I like about them are the range of colours that were achieved through the process.
  3. Not a rare or expensive medal by any stretch of the imagination and my pics are nowhere near the above but here is one of the bargains I got from the auction at the TNS meeting last week. It was the princely sum of £1!!!!!!
  4. Here is that hollowed out Victoria half penny. Its got more detail than can be seen. shame really!
  5. Gutted, but was less than £2 so not a problem in that sense!
  6. Here is a quick pic taken with my phone.
  7. I am not 100%. Think it is a different reverse but maybe there has been some tweaking. The coin I have has no problems to the teeth to the right below date. The one pictured certainly does. There also seems to be a difference in the area above the foot were there seems to be an imperfection, mine doesn't. However there is a similar mark across the Y of PENNY. Will take a quick pic for you to compare. Maybe just a bad pic giving, as you say, a misleading image!!!!
  8. Recieved my blocked "2" 1932 penny today to find it has no blocked "2" and has grown a tooth back!!!!
  9. Nice novelty piece. I have a lovely milled out Victorian halfpenny. No secondary piece though. Maybe the start of a similar project or has lost the other half over time. Will post pic later.
  10. Intrigued to see now Gary. Look forward to seeing it!
  11. Think so too. The 2 coins do look different to me. I was like yourselves sure it was classed as unique!!
  12. Pure fluke on this one. Was looking for something else and clicked in by accident. When I saw the date I had to buy it. £1 plus 85p postage. ? Bargain.
  13. Just managed to buy this little beauty. Will take better pics when it arrives. A great example of a filled 2 on a 1932 penny.
  14. Just the initial enjoyment of finding those differences for this one Pete. Hadn't realised that this coin had so many changes, etc... I initially thought it was the B under the F which is why I took pics but noticed the difference once I took them. Its an interesting side to the hobby and something i am enjoying learning about nearly everytime I visit the forum. Bar the "1853 GRATI.A (Dot) penny" I seem to have been lucky in that the legends have been very crisp without much interest or obvious recutting. I will dive back into Richards pics to see what else I can pick up. Cheers Brian
  15. On closure inspection there seems to have been a few recuts to this die. Here are a couple more pictures from the reverse of my 1858 penny. No idea whats going on with the G of REG and the final AR of BRITANNIAR definitley look to have been retooled/cut.
  16. Thanks Guys I always find the sharing of knowledge on here brilliant and appreciate learning from you all. The penny also has a very unusual G. I will post some pics in a bit when I get home. The knowledge base on here is second to none and I am so pleased I joined the forum. Cheers Brian
  17. One for the Copper boys to help out on. Inspired by the 1858 Penny with F over B I decided to have a look at my couple of 1858. Not sure what this is but definately looks like something there. This coin has the WW on truncation!
  18. Thanks Richard, appreciate the info and help. Agree with everything you've stated. Think mine definitely shows a few different anomalies that Michael hasn't listed, but to list everything would as you say be impossible. This is the great thing about this hobby there is always new things to find. Thanks Brian
  19. Here are some close ups of the date. Thanks all in advance.
  20. Thanks to my son I have final got a copy of Michael Gouby's Penny book 1860-1901. I have been systematically going through my Victorian pennies, and have a few more to get through, but am struggling to assign this one within the 1874 batches. The 1, 7 and 4 of the date have all been overstruck. I thought it was initially the "Nk (K+J)" reverse, but doesn't have the rounded foot to the 7. It maybe that I am new to the book but just having a few problems pinning it down and hoped you guys could help.
  21. Just received a few nice pennies from Pete today too, all raw though as that's what I collect. A really nice 1950 proof, 1948 BU and a nice example of the 1946 Dot. Very happy with them. Not that I ever had a doubt. Great coins from a great guy who has been very helpful to me and many others. Thanks Pete, appreciate all the help.
  22. Don't think anyone would have done it to con or make money out of the penny. Think they have just done it to see what would happen or as an experiment of some kind. As I said before its still a very unusual coin and a good curio to keep a hold of.
  23. Think after Ian's observation that would also rule me out. Post mint so not as interested. Still a very unusual piece. Thought it was strange being so uniform.
