  1. I recently acquired this coin by mistake at a recent auction, I accidently bid on the wrong coin. I was wondering what it was worth and if anyone had any interest in purchasing it. I am looking to sell it just to recoup some of my money. I don't have it in my possession at the moment, it should arrive next week.
  2. Thank you very much for your offer. I thought I would put it out there that I would happily trade this coin for a nice Hammered English Shilling, Crown or Half Crown. I may even be interested in an early English Hammered Penny, Henry II Tealby and earlier.

    Stephen Watford Penny Identification

Thank you both for your help.
  4. Hi I recently purchased this coin from an Australian auction house. They described it as Norwich mint but didn't list a Moneyer. Would anyone be able to identify a Moneyer and confirm the mint? I see what looks to be an DM at around 12-1 o'clock but the closest Moneyer to that from Norwich is Adam. Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Stephen Watford Penny Identification

Hi Matteo, Thank you, I was very happy when I found it, the price seemed right so I bought it. In North 2nd edition, I can only find a Swetman for Norwich. Is this a mistake? Nick

Reference Guide for Early British Pennies

Thank you both for your suggestions. I have found Volumes 1 and 2 for North for a little less that £55, and I am still looking for the other books locally.
  7. I am looking for a catalogue or reference guide that will help me to identify Late Anglo-Saxan Coinage 973AD through to the Plantagenet Kings. I am trying to learn how to identify what mint the coin was made at and by which maker if possible. I already have Spink and Coincraft. Is it worth getting North?
  8. Thank you both for the warning.
  9. I have been watching those, and wondering the same thing.
  10. No actually I am possibly looking to buy it, if I can identify it.
  11. Hi I was wondering if anyone could identify this coin. It seems to ba a 1549 Edward VI Shilling from the Durham House Mint. The mintmark is a Bow. It looks to be a S 2465C but the legends seems to be transposed. Does anyone know what Spink catalogue number it fits under? It may be a E6SH-030 according to Coincrafts catalogue. Can anyone confirm this?
  12. I agree the shield doesnt look like the Durham House style. The only place that mentions TIMOR on the Reverse is E6SH-030 in Coincraft. Is there anyone who I could contact about this coin?
  13. I dont think it can be the S2472 because it has TIMOR instead of INIMICOS on the reverse. Also are the S2472 and S2472A supposed to have a date visible?. I understand that the S2470 doesn't have a date but does that translate to the S2472 and S2472A?

1549 Edward VI Shilling Arrow Bust 1 or 2

Thank you both again. Rob thank you for the offer, I will work with the PDF for now. If I feel the need to have a book I will contact you.
  15. Hi I recently purchased this Edward VI Shilling, I have established that it is from 1549 and that it has the arrow mint mark on the reverse. It is too worn on the obverse to tell for sure if there was an arrow there as well. Would anyone be able to confirm if this is a Bust 1 Arrow/Arrow or a Bust 2 -/Arrow

1549 Edward VI Shilling Arrow Bust 1 or 2

Thank you both for your help. I wasnt sure if it was a colon, but after looking at some images of other shillings it seems they don't have a colon between the date and TIMOR. Rob would you be able to dircect me to where I could find Joe's article?
