  1. I had 38 tomato plants this year. I grow about a dozen different varieties so I have everything from "garden sweets" to big ones for cooking. I'm hopefully taking delivery of a Spetchley Red grape vine sometime today. Never tried growing a watermelon, or any other melon for that matter.
  2. Cleaned the greenhouse out? Surely it's too early for your tomatoes to have finished? Still got toms plus cucumbers, aubergines and chillies in mine.

    Ebay's BEST Offerings

It was only a space filler - says so in the listing. In the Grand Prix some cars drove round and the overtaking was done during pit stops rather than out on the track. Probably.

    Rare coin lost in post

Financially, maybe, but what about the loss of a scarce coin to the collecting community? You own a number of coins that are probably unique, some of which you've likely had your eye on for years. What if they were lost on the way to you from the auction house? You are refunded, as is the auction house. Has anyone lost out?

That's disappointing for you, the buyer and the numismatic world. Fingers crossed it will eventually surface.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

No, but you've changed the parameters. We've gone from bog standard at 10x market value to an unattributed variety at a fair price. If you mean I've looked at one of their coins at a hugely inflated price, and one of their other coins was an unattributed variety, I wouldn't have seen it in the first place because I'd have moved on. If I think a coin is a good price, I look at the seller's other listings to see what else looks good. If it's a terrible price, I don't bother. I can't look at everything.

It also makes me dismiss all their other listings as they are clearly trying to rip someone off.

I'd have said not fully struck up, or you'd see the wear elsewhere too.

I don't think I've got a common date that nice!

Enough with the washers Pete, haven't you got a decent one to share?

I understand that it's not worth the time or trouble to list and sell individually. Instead of chucking them in the melting pot, how about you chuck them in a not-for-melting pot, then every 6 months or so offer them on here as mixed low grade varieties for a very modest sum. You'd get a little more than scrap and you'd not be destroying them.

I would have been pleased to save them from the melting pot.

I thought the F164a was one of those that was off! 20? I'm pretty sure as a forum we could rustle up that many without too much trouble - doesn't even warrant a mention on Richard's site. I thought the 1922 trident dot was way off at 10 too. I haven't had chance to have a proper look through yet but I would certainly agree with your last point, albeit with exceptions like the 1887 coronation head which needs chucking in the bin*. *Other opinions are available and no less valid, I guess.

Nor me. I'd say some are way off the mark.

    Cleaned or not?

Thanks all. To me the 1950 looked cleaned, not sure about the 1936. I can't even say why for sure, it just looks a bit unnaturally shiny to me. It could just be the lighting, of course.

I don't think it's legit though, that 9 on the reverse looks iffy.

In my population of two I have two flat-bottomed 2s.
  21. I'm convinced there are actually relatively few collectors compared to the number of profiteers.

    Brighton halfpenny

DH 6-8, not fussed which as the obverse is the bit I want. Needs to be a pleasing example devoid of disfiguring marks, some wear quite acceptable but no less than VF. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Cheers.

    Brighton halfpenny

Thank you. I'll keep an eye on it but since it comes as a pair it'll likely exceed my budget, unfortunately.
