I think this is a F78? Reverse Gouby ja so must be F72 or F78 if my understanding is correct, and I'm fairly sure it's obverse Gouby L.
  2. Bramah lists it (10b) and describes it as rare. That big white circle is unusual though.
  3. From the home page it's Other, then Collections Paddy: http://www.colincooke.com/collections/ccc_williamiii.html
  4. 1. Bramah 12c - he says: "All the listed varieties are rare". 2. Agree with your die pairing. Nice pick up, Paddy.

I would have remained blissfully unaware of his existence without the previous posts.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

No silly offers = any offer over £1 being silly, presumably.

    Stephen Hawkings 50p

Too easily confused with Olympic boccia?

    Cool design though.
  11. That makes a good deal of sense, thank you.
  12. Hello again Colin. Hope the new business is doing well.
  13. So do you think it's just a lighter strike so the 6 wasn't fully punched? Otherwise I don't understand it - where did a "wiry" 6 punch come from?
  14. I'd like to know what a "wiry" 6 is? Where else is it used / seen?

    Found in circulation £2

I got a fake £1 coin in change the other day. I said to the cashier "Excuse me love, this is a Euro".

    it gets worse

People have been wasting their money on shiny things for centuries. It's not a new thing. I actually think this is more honest than most of the recent Royal Mint junk. It doesn't pretend to be anything it isn't, unlike the mint "coins" that were never intended to be spent, in a multitude of different forms, all designed to deceive the collector as to their investment potential etc etc.

    it gets worse

I don't see why it bothers you. It's not even a coin, just a shiny gewgaw.

I don't think it'll hurt this one. Someone kicking it up and down the street already did that!

I've given it a rub on my T-shirt so it's looking much better. I'll post another photo tomorrow when I've got some daylight.
