Is it a fake £2 coin the Post Office gave me?

Hi Adrian, just a picture of each side would probably serve better than a video.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

    That was pulled quickly.
  3. It's our own fault. If we refused to use the ones that charge then they'd not bother making any more. I've never paid to get my own money out, and nor will I.
  4. I'm from Yorkshire. I'd be the one picking them up.
  5. Funny. You struck me as being older.
  6. Regardless of what cards may have been in my pocket, I would have told them that I had no other means of payment. Frankly, that's ridiculous.
  7. I did wonder who was getting carried away with that one, given the £400-500 estimate. Obviously the significance escaped me.

    Paddington 50p

    I think that's the point. It's driving a market.

    Paddington 50p

I used to like our coinage. Not so much any more though. Once some thought went into what subject was worthy of a commemorative issue. Now it's all about what people will gush over and rush out to buy in its many differently minted forms.

Edward (I?) Penny - Any ideas on the class/type?

It's a teeny tiny minting defect with no significance whatsoever. It's still worth exactly £2, sorry.

    1797 2d

It's good. Decent edges too, which is often a problem with these due to the weight - it only needs to be dropped once. The large size is due to the coin being made from 2d worth of copper - 2oz.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Just another way to mask a seller’s history so you can’t see if they’ve been flogging fakes.

    mail tampering

I've seen on another forum where UK customs opened a packet to leave a scarce ½ dam like this:

Am I wrong for liking this?

As soon as you add colour to a coin it ceases to be anything approaching my cup of tea.

    Grading a folder coin

That 1917’s a really weak strike which may be misleading when it comes to grading.

    Grading a folder coin

I’d grade the coin according to the level of wear, regardless of how it happened. Whether it’s from poor storage or circulation is irrelevant to me.

    7 Kilos of Johhny Foreigners

Well it was a bit tongue in cheek but I’d happily work my way through them. I wouldn’t pay for them though.
  18. I have to have mine in Windows “Classic” mode or I can’t cope.

    7 Kilos of Johhny Foreigners

Give them to me. I’ll do it. 🙂
  20. After countless prompts I eventually "updated" to Windows 10. I put it back to Windows 7 after about 10 minutes.
  21. I don't know how you could bear to part with that.

    Recent Hammered Acquisitions

I've only opened one, but wrapping it in a tea towel to protect your hands and twisting it breaks it open quite nicely.

    Auction houses

    Don't buy them then.

Minting Error Beatrix Potter Flopsy 50p 2018

Personally I think it's just poor quality rather than an error. If I wanted one at all I'd rather have an unflawed one. I could be wrong but suspect this post is just a plug for your ebay listing?
