It's nice mate. Hardly any scratches, especially the obverse.

Maybe. But I like to think he felt uncomfortable enough to pull the listing.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I pointed out the nick on the bead above & between the H&A, plus the nick in front of the harpy-lady's navel, both on the duff coin but not the one on the scales. He knew exactly what he was doing.

So how come he had a different coin on the scales? I politely asked him for a photo of the correct coin on the scales, and he replied that it was the same one. I pointed out a few nicks etc that showed it wasn't, after which it all went quiet...
  11. You just said that so I'd like your post. It worked.
  12. I just need wrestling. I've got all at face value thus far, although I have splurged £2 on postage.
  13. That's what I intend to pay for my set.
  14. No, it goes to show that there is a new generation of people desperately hoping to make a quick buck.

    Arthur Conan Doyle

That’s interesting. As well as his numismatic work, Ernest Bramah also wrote books featuring blind detective Max Carrados, who struck me as being quite Holmes-esque. “The Coin of Dionysius” is one that springs to mind.

Thanks Ian. I initially thought that the rock you’ve pointed out was there on the one I posted, but have since realised it’s in the wrong place. As you say, the lighthouse top is an easy indicator. 🙂

    My Latest Acquisition

I'd say same coin but left image has been cleaned up with photoshop. The mark between the crown and DEI suggests same coin. There's another scratch under the OR of VICTORIA that is on both. However, the scratch under VI of VICTORIA is completely missing on the left image. I'd be looking to send it back either way.
