  1. I've asked the seller if it's the one I will receive but he hasn't got back to me yet. Can't imagine why.
  2. Evening all. Bramah 11a is a cartwheel 2d with no stop after REX. I've only ever seen a couple of these. I have this one, low grade and a bit lumpy but beggars can't be choosers. I'd like to know if this variety is due to die fill or a different die. Anyone know please? Cheers, MBE
  3. I use it, as you know Pete. I've had a couple of decent buys but there's a lot of rubbish too. There is more risk involved than with ebay, but think as long as you use PayPal Goods and Services then you should be reasonably well protected.
  4. At least it's accurately described. I fail to see how a penny with no original surface metal remaining has lustre.
  5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Victorian-Penny-1862-purple-toned-original-lustre-/142547297748?hash=item21307b25d4:g:~rUAAOSwpDdVZNhc Original lustre on the reverse, apparently.
  6. Well that's a fairly hefty start to your posts Gaz, what are you going to follow that with?
  7. bagerap is probably (but not necessarily because I have no idea of the extent of our other forum users' knowledge) your best bet.
  8. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PENNY-EDWARD-VII-1907-FINE-/192340494977?hash=item2cc8630a81:g:XvUAAOSwDk5T6PnG http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PENNY-GEORGE-V-1920-VF-/192340494980?hash=item2cc8630a84:g:YygAAOSwPK1ZQ-ZL "I am not a coin dealer but am selling surplus coins from my collection.I try to be as accurate as possible on grade description."
  9. Greetings. Post a few pictures of the unidentified ones and you'll probably get some answers.
  10. Delusional is the first word that springs to mind.
  11. Doesn't appeal to me. I don't even consider it to be a sixpence - it's just a made up round shiny thing designed to relieve you of your dough.
  12. No mate, no. It's low tide, innit? Says so on the listing.
  13. I wouldn't mind so much if they were, in any way, nice.
  14. Get yerself a bit of quality: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VERY-RARE-LOW-TIDE-HALF-PENNY-OF-1902-EDWARD-II-/253212495962?hash=item3af4a4105a:g:b7kAAOSwDmBY4ktS
  15. Hard to have much sympathy, isn't it?
  16. Call yourself a collector, eh? Someone's going to be upset with that one.
  17. Looks normal to me. A nice one though.
  18. Ahh, of course. Silly me.
  19. Yes, true enough I guess. Incidentally, do we know anything about the metal composition of the Chinese fake wreath crowns, for example? Are they using silver?
  20. It's not entirely conclusive, of course: it shows there is some silver, but not how much.
  21. 'tis only a guess Rob but hopefully it's nothing more sinister than that.
  22. They don't sell though. Looking at the sold listings most "error" £1s go for a couple of quid + postage. This one made me laugh though. You can hardly see the join.
  23. This is a complete guess: A Facebook user posts a picture of a coin. Q: "That's nice, where did you get it?" A: "RP Coins" https://www.rpcoins.co.uk/pages/coins This would generate a little preview of your website with the link. If someone clicked the link, could that be a Facebook referral?
  24. Thanks Rob.
