  1. Yours probably aren't hexagonal. Attracts a premium, that.
  2. Ahh, the good old hexagonal threepence. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1943-three-penny-coin-hexagonal-shape-/272422382756?hash=item3f6da3aca4:g:BOgAAOSw~gRVokUH
  3. If I had the cash I'd buy all three auctions and watch him squirm trying to explain why I wouldn't be getting 3 1905s.
  4. This 1905 half crown and this 1905 half crown and this 1905 half crown all look remarkably similar. This seller has some of the most deliberately deceptive photography I think I've seen.
  5. Not all guides will give you the same price, so maybe try a few different ones to build an idea between them?
  6. I always snipe if I can get to a PC. Bid once, bid your maximum, and bid with 5 seconds to go. That way any competition doesn't have time to outbid you, or if their bid was already higher than your maximum, you don't have time for anything other than a slight sinking feeling, a little remorse perhaps, but no time to go mad - the auction's over.
  7. You might have better luck looking at some dealers' lists than ebay. Think most of us have got a bit carried away at some point though.
  8. I would be inclined to agree - looking at a June/July dealer list I have to hand, he has the 1946 and 1949 in GF priced at £3 and £5 respectively. Mine are like Stuntman's. Bought as a schoolboy in about 1983 from the only coin shop in the area, probably in his 10p tray. I would upgrade but the prices are silly now.
  9. Can see them all now, suspect problem this end. Incompetent user error or something.
  10. None of those links work for me Guy.
  11. Display it the other way up, the reverse is the best bit anyway. I'm with the likers.
  12. I hadn't spotted that Pete, I was focusing on the V for U in GEORGIVS.
  13. Think I read somewhere recently that it's since about 1280 or so. Could be wrong mind.
  14. This is about the best I can get of the reverse.
  15. I bought this because I liked the die clash. Obvious on the obverse, particularly prominent between the neck and the ribbon. These are the seller's pictures. Having the coin in hand and a loupe, on the reverse leading up from Britannia's knee I can see (not visible on the photos, sorry) the whole of Victoria's profile. It's clashtastic.
  16. Yes, I thought it seemed a bit odd.
  17. The other two appear to me to be either ¼, ½ or 1 Memduhiye Altin, depending on weight. The one on the left looks to be regnal year 2, the one on the right, 1.
  18. Think the regnal year on the top one is 21. My punt would be at Ottoman Empire 100 kurush, KM#730. The weight should help.
  19. Sorry Pete, I expect all the gold's been bought by now.
  20. But that's where you'd do it, isn't it? You'd just nick a bit off the edge rather than the middle. Well, I would, anyway.
