One can but try, my friend! I'll be looking through the shrapnel tin before I bag it up to take to the bank, that's for sure.
-
Not just the second image, but the first too, from here: http://www.coinpeople.com/index.php/topic/24520-the-queen-victoria-thread/ post #18. I do like a bit of sport, me.
-
Nice one, I didn't know you could do that!
-
So I bid on it to take out the BIN option. Where's he nicked this pic from then eh?
-
But when I clicked on it it changed to this:
-
When I looked at his other items this 1862 was shown:
-
Ahh, insults. The last resort of a limited intellect. I can no longer report the listings since they've been taken down.
-
Funny how neither listing is still live if they're his. Would have been interesting to see how much the bidding ran up based on those photos, but not for the poor sod that bought them, of course.
-
Good article, thanks. Now I know what this dot to dot 10p is that people keep harping on about.
-
Thanks for the second opinion Colin. I'd get it on ebay as a rare, scarce, unlisted variety except it's my only fat 8.
-
Thanks Colin. It's missing the coppers though!
-
I can't see that it would be any different myself. Not something I would do.
-
I actually like the die crack better than the letters - it's the biggest I've seen. To me it's just defective, and not something I'd want (like many so-called "varieties" IMO).

The crown does look a bit good, doesn't it?

Blimey, that's not pretty is it? -
Hi all, My collection of pennies it a bit, err, awful, to be honest. Lots of them haven't been upgraded since I started my collection digging through the dealer's (s)crap boxes 30 or more years ago. Fine or less, most of them. I'm sure there must be plenty of you who have top grade specimens, so I might well be interested in your spares. I'd be looking for at least GVF-EF but not really much higher if I'm honest. I don't want to shell out for FDC when I'd be quite happy with EF to fill the hole. So, as a start I'm looking for 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, 09, 10, 11, 12, 12H, 13, 14, 15, 16, 18H, 18KN, 19H, 19KN, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27. I know most of you think condition is of paramount importance, but I'd rather have a half decent set of 30 than 6 top notch coins. Each to their own, I guess. I simply can't be arsed to trawl through ebay for the VERY RARE UNC dogs I see so many of, so thought it might be sensible to ask here. I also realise I've not been on the forum long and trust takes time to build, but will appreciate any help I can get. So, what have you got nice eh? Cheers, MBE
-
Colin, sorry I'm still here! I'd value your opinion on this 1865 if you'd be so kind. I think the 6 is over another 6? Seems to be something there to me. What do you think?
-
Raw. Slabbed coins won't fit in my trays.
-
I will once Pete's got his hide round to the Post Office.
-
Now 03, 04, 05, 06, 08, 09, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18H, 19H, 19KN, 20, 22, 26.

I'm not after buying this, but wondered what you lot thought of this penny? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-1860-PENNY-MANY-OF-THE-LETTERS-WEAK-OR-MISSING-PARTS-BRITISH-COIN-VICTORIA-/361451067530 I'd want a nice one, if it was me. -

Think it's some kind of lamination error Terry. Was discussed on about page 4 of this thread but it took me a while to find mine. -
It's in ebay's interest to encourage the sale of the fake. The more it goes for, the higher the fees. PayPal too. Same as it's in their interest to encourage shill bidding, which is why you can no longer see bidder's identities to spot the patterns.

Yes, poor, broke mrbadexample is waiting for the postman.

I need to leave this forum. You're all bad people. I come on asking for advice about a £250 coin and together you talk me into spending three times that. Now what am I going to do for beer this week, eh? You should be ashamed of yourselves. I blame the 'stralian, he started it.
