Help in a cold spell

I thought it was taken in your shed. -
Ongoing Spink Sale (17/1/21) Featuring OUTRAGEOUS Prices

DNW estimates for lots with a few pennies in seem to be in the "let's get your hopes up" range. -

We put a sign up to warn the birds but apparently they don't speak Swedish round here. -
Help in a cold spell

I'll be honest - I don't entirely buy the "old and sick" line. When our (my girlfriend's!) cats bring in corpses I get more than a bit angry. In the end I had to convince myself that the cats see birds as flying sandwiches. It's the only way I can understand their desire to pounce. -
Help in a cold spell

You're kidding Mike. Domestic cats are extremely destructive and very efficient hunters. It's been estimated that the country's 7.5 million cats are responsible for around 100 million small animal deaths per year. -

Not to mention unfrozen water. -
Will still be silver under the black bit.

My guess would be that it's a detector find.
-
Yes, it will!

Works for me if it does for Alan.

How about a fiver and you keep the other two?

Is that the colour one?

Stuff to Make Us Laugh
mrbadexample replied to Madness's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
It's written on the left of the reverse. The 9 looks like a g but if it was fully struck up it would be a 70. -
It would leave bulk lots bereft of any "finds".

I like live auctions or the set ending time of ebay. 24 hours is way too long to think about bidding a bit more, which is why people do it. I don't participate in those.
-
It is terribly sad. I like to think he got to 99 and thought: "Righto, time to get myself a send off. A bit of fundraising, a knighthood and national hero status should be doable."
-
I have a feeling that DNW would start at bottom estimate rather than 90%, but I don't know why I think that.

clogs, die faults, et al.

It looks like grease to me, but the affected area is unusually large. I was hoping someone here might have bought it so I could have a better look. -

I was watching it in case it went cheaply, but missed the end of the auction. I'd have only bid a tenner or so anyway so wouldn't have won it. -

Did anyone here pick this up? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/gb-1799-halfpenny-/265032338120?nma=true&si=V6eenPJPFgWwXezgiSCzzy8pf%2B0%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 -
Interesting that they would start at 90% of estimate if no other bid. Can anyone tell me how (for example) LCA or DNW would work in the same situation?

Halfpenny ID check

Thanks both. -
Nicholson I checked because I know where to find it (although he didn't seem to collect much rang tang ). Never heard of Samuel - can I view that collection somewhere? And thanks.
-
I don't have that problem, if I'm not eating food I'm growing food. Anyway, while I have your attention and completely off topic here but I believe you had a half decent collection of halfpennies? I'm looking for more examples of the F264 - can you point me in the right direction to any you know of please? I can find more with a die letter than I can this.

I think that's brilliant. I didn't have an inkling of the extent of your library until your recent posts on another forum. The information you command at will, quite frankly, does my head in. I have trouble remembering what I had for breakfast.
