  1. I have just checked the detail on mine and it is pretty good so I hope someone else can benefit from it as I don't want to be selfish and have it for the sake of it. I am looking for a queen Victoria twopence but they either have holes in or are to expensive for me.
  2. Yes I believe Edinburgh is the rarest with a mintage of about 935.000 Dave
  3. I read this site http://ukfakeanderrorcoins.50webs.com/
  4. http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Replica-Coins_131509244.html?spm=a2700.7724838.0.0.3z5G4k
  5. Most of the coins in my price range have holes in them surely this ruins the coin.
  6. Hi Paulus I will try and get the other coins. Thanks Dave
  7. When I show my queen Victoria coins to an elderly person you would be surprised by how much you can learn because conversation gets around to their younger days and transport, buildings etc. So I assume these few coins I am looking for are Maundy coins or were they just used as normal money as well
  8. I will look for some later 1880's coins in my budget range. Thanks Dave
  9. Then that is three coins to get but i have already shown my other Victoria coins to a few elderly people and they have enjoyed looking at them. Dave
  10. That is another coin I will try and get hold of as well as the two pence and I will be looking for 1880-1890's area.
  11. Hi Stuntman I forgot to mention I have a shilling and a farthing and I thought a two pence would complete the set. I lost my mum to Dementia a year and half ago and I want to do some volunteering with the elderly and I have been collecting these coins as a talking point if i get the chance to volunteer. Dave
  12. Every time i find a queen Victoria two pence on the bay in my low price range they seem to have holes in them. I have a Victoria crown, half crown, double florin, florin, sixpence, penny, half penny and a threepence but I am looking for a two pence coin to finish the set unless I have missed some coins but finances are down again for me. Dave
  13. I have noticed on occasions that an average looking Kew 50p may sell for say £50 plus and yet some in excellent condition sell for around £35. When I was into RC helicopters some people on there were paying the same second hand as a brand new item. I just cannot see any logic or pattern in the way people decide how much to pay. Dave
  14. Hi IanB I have paid between say £1.80 plus P&P of £1.50 odd to £18 (Shakespeare three coin set) for some of the coins and some i have had given to me and some i have paid friends face value. But at the end of the day the collection has a value of £118 and i think i paid in the region of £45 - £50 for the piedforts but i am sure i have paid to much for them.
  15. Sorry I have 44 £2 coins i forgot about my 1989 piedforts. Dave
  16. I have a total of 42 different £2 coins worth a grand total of £84 but the strange thing is i have paid less than £2 for some of them but the P&P put the prices up for the sellers but they have not made much out of them. Some of the coins i have had from friends and family for face value and some i have paid more for but the most expensive has been HMS Belfast £2 as that is sealed in a Royal mint BU packet that was £16 but they were sold by the mint for £10 but no longer available and the Shakespeare three coin set £18. Dave
  17. I had a Magna Carta yesterday and i thought it was a BU version but it is out of a bag but in all fairness it suits my needs and seems really nice. Dave
  18. My last two £2 coins the 2015 Magna Carta and 2016 WW1 (BU) versions came today and other than the trail coins i have the full set i think.
  19. Old pocket watches have the same effect on me it is like they want to talk. I am drifting into the realms of fantasy just ignore me.
  20. I admit I used a soft buffing wheel and some cleaner to clean and buff the £2 coins so the damage is done and I have just purchased a Magna Carta £2 coin and I will put that straight in a sealed pocket. My queen Victoria coins are as I purchased them and I have put them in pockets. This is going to sound strange but the Victoria coins make me think about the life of the coin and what it has purchased and who had them but the £2 coins are just for display of different designs for friends to see.
  21. Hello Ian Thank you for the advice andI know I get worried as I suffer from anxiety and depression in fact I was finished from work in April after 27 years because of my sickness absences in this last 18 months but that's my fault. I don't really need anymore £2 coins but I need to keep a check on my money I spend. I am sorry bore you with my present life story and I appreciate your input. I have not cleaned any of my queen Victoria coins and I purchased most of them from dealers. Dave
  22. Hi IanB This is the DNA coin and i have got nearly all the £2 coins but i am not buying anymore. Dave
  23. Hi IanB I thought cleaning and polishing coins devalued them but at the end of the day I guess they are still only worth £2 each to someone. When I had them some were really grubby and others just untidy so I cleaned and polished them with a gentle buffer to give them a bit of a shine. Dave
  24. I purchased a lot of them and to be honest i cannot say i have seen the majority of the £2 coins before and some i paid less than £2 but postage was mostly in the £1.50 range for them. The Northern Ireland commonwealth games was the most expensive single coin and the set of Shakespeare were £18.
  25. I should have Googled it first and I agree with you.
