Just lost out on another ebay auction, don't want to pay over the odds, and still very green about prices. Other than ebay, where else do people buy online? I've found CambridgeCoins, looks pretty good. As a newbie I feel I'm going to get shafted , price wise. I have the Collectors Coins book, great info.

Checking grading British Coins on this item http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272254892279?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT She has a curl at the end of her hair, the book show's no curls in F, VF or EF, is this normal?

Again according to CCGB this is Cupro-Nickel (No silver) UNC/BU £10/£15, but going as a solid silver crown. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Solid-Silver-Crown-Superb-Condition-Fully-Boxed-Papers-1951-Festival-of-Britain-/381649944974?hash=item58dc1c018e:g:qsYAAOSwepZXRy7u Looks like it's going to go for correct price.

According to CCGB this little beauty is listed at £10 for Fine, I may be new to this but the Obverse looks poor to me!! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QUEEN-VICTORIA-VERY-OLD-COIN-OF-QUARTER-FARTHING-1852-/301973834159?hash=item464f0b09af:g:cFgAAOSwuhhXUWRY

Evening all, I've just started collecting, as of yesterday, so much to read/look at/evaluate/get wrong etc etc. Bought some on eBay for £2 and £5, lots of sites about values, grading, any good books to help? Grading seems to be the hardest thing, opinions differ. If anyone has any hints tips for me all is welcome, spent 3 hrs yesterday just looking at coins on eBay, any other sites/places to search. I live in South Wales, any good shops around Newport/Cardiff area? Bob
