Rogers #663 and #664 : 664 is with SERIFS on the reverse but as yet I do not have one and he has no image of it as he had not seen one but it is logical to believe that it exists if it follows the same pattern as the shilling and the three pence ...Sadly the collection at the Fitzwilliam have not imaged all the varieties

The sixpence and the three pence seem to follow a similar pattern with the pellet and the star reverse this is unlisted in Rogers but as there exists a space for it I suspect it might be able to be called # 665 The letters are small with the nose pointing to the base of the R corresponding to Type 1 in the shilling

Perhaps she has a bun in the oven and is in need of additional child support at least if he gets the 260K someone offered he should have enough to keep her in the lifestyle she is accustomed to

yes they do and they are quite strict about having it on but I suppose if you are lying about the coin you can say whatever takes your fancy

it is quite hard to know what does and does not get taken down by ebay. I feel I do a tiny bit by reporting what I see o them. Might be a waste of time akin to picking up other peoples little I suppose in the outside world, but I will still do both. From a cost point of view in the end it costs them because they have to administer a return programme and often these things escalate and involve going through the resolution centre.

That is a shame . Although if you were going to enter the counterfeit business as a chinese die maker I think the Contemporary Georgian counterfeits would be the best place to start. I have a lot of them and recently have been shocked at some of the prices they fetch in the US ...it is a big part of their history

If you have any of these BAVARIEN toy coins I am certain much higher quality examples will exist out there. Especially of TYPE 1 which sadly is the one in poorest condition. Small simple lettering on both sides

The history of this series seems a little confusing Rogers has them as all from the C BALMBERGER issues and he notes a number of variations in the legends all seem to be made in Nuremberg . Rogers only lists #667 and #658 with the tall lettering and the dot with two bars obverse no mention is made of the variation in the lettering directly for these BAVARIEN type in the list although a serif and non serif type is mentioned in the introduction of section 32 . Because no complete collections have been found it is hard to identify the dates of the issues. The Smaller lettering and simple reverse must have existed before the larger lettering or else we would not see these over strike letters and the mix of the lettering in ye three suggests movement and changes to the dies Type 1 followed by type 4 type 3 followed by type 2 would be my suggestion based on the star and barred type. all are listed as RRR or RRR*

I found some interesting variations in the BAVARIAN editions recently in the shilling, but there seems to be a pattern emerging which suggests that there may be 4 versions of each value. The variation is in the size of the legend and its position on the OBVERSE as well as differences in the design on the REVERSE. I will go back and try sort them but thought I'd start with the Shilling The simplest form has smaller lettering . The nose points to the base of the R . The reverse uses a very simple font and there is a star below the shilling with no bars

I wonder why in the age of the algorithm some bright spark at ebay does not list a range of all the reported and or rare coins by date and type and when they get listed they get looked at and questioned.? there is a lovely Elizabeth 1st Crown up on ebay with a mintmark WRL I noticed this morning. whenever there is some convoluted story attached or some long history of the monarch, somehow they think that is enough to capture the attention of a buyer.

But at least we get to see the chimney from which it came....perhaps when they built the house the King laid the foundation stone...in the chimney they did smoke a lot back then so perhaps it makes sense

Halfpenny ID check
DrLarry replied to mrbadexample's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I am always happy to help I just use a binocular microscope and the phone. I often use an APP which I have found incredibly useful call "Cozy Magnifier + It allows upward from x1 to times 10 and is pretty good if the phone rests above the coin. It does have a light feature and a higher magnification but my hands shake too much . it is only a couple of pounds and I tried many and this one is the best as it allows images in reverse light and black and white ....But if you need help please just ask I have time ... Here a beautiful Half crown Box I recently purchased. Made by Joseph Moore dated 1850 It would appear to be the brass or white Metal one reported to Rogers but unseen. # 4055 a it is 32.5 mm and 2.5 mm thick with plain edges . It is silvered inside and contains three prayer plates medals of the ten commandments, and another ( not sure what it is called) The Apostles Creed I think, each of which is 30mm in brass thin and a third 26 mm with the Lords Prayer. This is not the iron foil version held at the Fitzwilliam. I would say it is pretty much uncirculated and the contents likely the originals
