Ye that's correct we learn more each day that's for sure ) but what about the 5 francs and the gold looking coin that has been trimmed and the sommer coins ? i did some reading on the sommer coin and the chance of a genuine one turning up is not going to happen and they don't feel right so I will add them to the ever growing box of coins . Thanks steve

Thanks Colin just read up on the Hong Kong dollar seems that it was sold to tourists that didn't know what it was but still a nice peace to have stick it in the box it's a good job I never had to pay for the coins I should think they are all fake no worries the box is getting heavier by the day :-)

Yes I see what you are saying but then again I can stick a coin against another coin of the same year and one will be more worn than the other just makes you see that one coin had a harder life passing hands more than the other ? But I do see the difference in the two coins one for the box I'm sure. Thanks steve

Yes it did help thanks I think one is Shan lung series the other emperor jent sung AD 1796 - 1820 iv also found a coin that's worn smooth it has an outer ring the inner circle is like a square crest with a crown on the top the other side has a outer circle with markings I can make out the 57 on the date but that's all ? It's around the size of a old one penny thanks Steve

    Mr

Thanks Rob I do have a friend that has a niton gun so he can zap it that will tell me what metal the coin is made from up to yet most of the coins seem to be named and dated so I can stick each one in search to find out the history of it but I have a large amount of foreign coins and I came across two that look like Chinese with square holes in the middle they do look very old they may be a challenge. thanks Steve
