I was on a short break in the lake district and happened to listen while a guy showing us how to work the new payment machine for the trip across windamere( by car) explained to a load of tourists that there was a 50p coin in circulation with kew gardens on the front worth £50 with only a few thousand put into circulation .
I did put my ore in and explained that I had found at least ten over the years , he looked at me a bit strange like I never knew anything about the subject so I decided to keep quiet .
This coin along with the undated 20p now seems to have entered a magic land of urban legends where anyone in the country can list a number of facts available that are totally not true .
Thanks to the mail etc LOL
