hi again guys! as i have posted here before and got much appreciated help, here i am again. yesterday out hunting i found an 1862 half penny of victoria and a 1799 penny (i think) of george. the george coin is in lovely condition does not look like its been in the ground for all that time! but someone has told me to look closely at the half penny for a letter a,b,or c???? where am i supposed to look?? and how big will the letter be? is it like the lettering you find under the bust on some coins? also what would be the approx value of them? the victoria coin is a little pitted but the legend is fine and the george coin is very nice!!

If you register you can post some pictures. The George III penny is likely to be 1797 - I'm sure we'd all like to see these coins as value is implicitly related to condition.

Hi Sue,

Regarding the lettering A, B or C.

You should be looking for this to the left of the lighthouse on the reverse.

It is very doubtful you'll find anything as this type of coin is very rare.

ok! thanks for the help! i cant see any letter so obviously its not a rare one (never mind) i will try and post some pics for you, although im not sure on how to post more than one at a time! thanks again very grateful.

Hi! Sue

If you have Paintshop Pro try this.

In PSP click on 'new' set the size to-say-1000 x 500

Open one coin pic and, using the selection tool, frame, cut and paste as a 'new selection'. Open the next coin pic and do the same, putting it next to the first. You can then cut and paste 'as new image' then save wherever you wish! Hope this helps?
