I would argue against the word "vandalised"! - as a love token that engraving will have added much more value to it than if it were not.

Sixty or so years ago, my father had a few of these "riddle" coins in his collection. Similarly engraved and decorated, they were supposedly sent back home to Ireland to show that the emigre sons of Erin were doing well in England. Dad was very fond of these.

It was EF before being ground down for the grafitti :)

Thank you for the info, that's very interesting, it's not mine I have it to sell on behalf of a charity so now I can add an interesting description.

Predecimal sponsers a penn where we keep our Northern Monkies.

They are mostly harmless.

Toss them a few coin monthlies and they chew the fat. B)

A couple of them profess to being dealers....mad on it man.
