Welcome Kevin. Sadly .. not a lot. I too have a bag of 1967 pennies in brilliant uncirculated condition because, perhaps like you because my Dad knew they would be the last issued* and so saved a bunch.

Unfortunately he overlooked that other people would do the same and that lots = not rare = little value. Except historically perhaps.

* OK, They made another issue as souvenirs in 1970 but those don't really count as they weren't actually spent.

Personally? Give them to a charity (they might get 50p each for them), a school or some young relatives in the hope they might get interested in the things or (as I once thought) buy some letter punches and add amusing slogans to them and list them on eBay ...

.

Yes, seconded, Kev! You couldn't even sell them on eBay, as the postage cost would be prohibitive!

Thanks for bringing them here, though, they could've been valuable. :)

I don't suppose there are any extra-rare microvarieties of '67 are there?

There's a variety where the waves are missing to the left of the lighthouse.

I have an Uncirculated 1967 Proof or Speciman coin which was said to not exist . I mentioned it to MG, and he thought it might be worth perhaps £200. Then an EF-UNC was sold on L.Coins in December 14 for £3500. Proofs don't photo well , its the toned one Terry

Wow Terry ... I find it quite amazing if the RM was saying that it did not produce any of these, if in fact it did ... considering it is such a modern coin!

I have seen similar Terry .

Although was told they had been laquered / varnished and hard to tell from a photo.

This penny was my mothers when she was collecting during the 1960s. She was a lawyer and had working connections with the banks , though I do not know where she obtained it ,but she must have obtained it around the time it was made . It shows no signs of any kind of coating , and even if my penny is a fake , the penny sold by London coins I assume was checked , if not £3500 ponds was a lot to pay for a dud Terry

As far as I can judge, there are three minor differences between the two reverses:

1. The top of the lighthouses appears different.

2. Small rock to the right of the lighthouse, up against the shield. This gives a small gap between the drapery and the sea on the normal 1967 coin.

3. The beads appear smaller on the 'specimen' coin. There may be different numbers of beads, but I haven't counted them.

Plenty of small varieties, but not sure about the rarity.

Interested in this penny know and want to know opinions.

Can anyone tell us some facts i.e. teeth numbers or anything that determins its a specimen ?.

Sure Terry is more interested than me.

Must be something in his coin if Michael Gouby offered £200.

Pete.
