Decimal ERRORS with royal mint letter

Recommended Posts

All the talk lately about decimal coins :o

I bought two a few years ago as both were different and came with a Royal Mint letter.

A 1999 Twenty pence struck on a one pence blank.

Royal mint say...A copper -plated steel blank intended for a 1p piece has become mixed in with 20p blanks and has been struck by 20p dies in the normal way.

A 2002 SILVER two pence.

Royal mint say.....As with the 10p piece of 2001, this coin was struck on a blank intended for an overseas coin.

Would think with the letter aswell quite unusual.

£95 for both including Special delivery.

Pete.

Snooze and you loose. I would have loved them. Great errors.

Oh, OK, I am quite aggressive on buying predecimal OMS as you may have gathered. Good that they went to a good home!

I do have a decimal side collection, and was looking for some obvious errors..they have fitted in perfectly. I need to have a good look through it and do the variety check on the coins I have.

Yes, like those as well. I have a bunch of patterns as well as the unintentional OMS.
