Can I pass my grading exam?...

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

As a newbie I am prone to over grading my coins as you all know.

So...from all the reading I have done here and from various other sources, can I pass my first grading test?

Here we go...

I think this is NVF.

Why? Because on the OBV you can detect some hairline but not enough to make it a clear VF, but hopefully more than a F.

Also, on the REV the acorns are worn down but not completely flat, so again I rate it as NVF.

Am I close?

What do you experts think...

Cheers,

Wayne

Just a glance and reckon F and bullion value.

I'd be inclined to say closer to fine. The acorns on the reverse have very ltitle detail remaining,  if VF I'd expect to see a lot more pimples.

The obverse again looks closer to F, the ear looks very worn and on the brink of merging in with the head, hair detail is hard to  see from photo, but looks like a lot of overall wear.

Do you have a copy of the grading book? It was a great help when I started out and I still refer to it a lot now.
