Struggle to sell piedforts

Recommended Posts

I have no doubt it will all depend on the price :), I don't think piedforts are necessarily any more difficult to sell than any other silver proof coins.

The 1983 one is quite sought after, the rest are a bit slow (unless quite cheap). They are essentially a Royal Mint sales gimmick - making a coin twice as thick. It works when they're new, but 2nd hand they are generally slow unless priced just a little more than the normal silver proof versions (which are normally around £15 I think).

I have the English oak, Irish Flax, Scottish thistle and the Welsh leek piedfort £1 coins for sale and there has only been 12 views in four days so maybe my wording is wrong :(

I think a lot depends.on what they are and how much you are asking for them.

I listed around a dozen on here and 4 sold very quickly most likely because the buyer was collecting the "theme"

Chris (forum owner) has a Facebook group dedicated to decimal where you could try or preloved or gumtree (that's where I sold the rest of mine)
