Idea for half term

Recommended Posts

If anyone is stuck for something to do during half term, and just happen to be near Manchester, can I recommend the Museum?

It has a great coin department, with a permanent exhibition there.

Museum of Manchester Coins

If you are lucky, the keeper of coins Mr Keith Sugden will be there and have time to talk you through the displays or show you some of the fantastic coins they have. He is a great chap, very knowledgeable and friendly.

Well worth a visit, a little way out of Manchester, in the University, but opposite a NCP car park.

Dave

I live a bit far from Manchester (300 miles think(!)), and I doubt that I would be allowed to go to Manchester anyway.

The best we have to offer in Belfast, is the Ulster Museum. It has quite a lot of old coins from sunken ships etc, as well as those from 15-1600's to the modern day.

I really ought to revisit the Manchester Museum - it's about 3 minutes walk from where I work.

I mean to revisit it actually one day.

Some nice hammered gold they had last time.

Thanks for the idea. I WAS in Manchester, but on the 5th when my daughter was on Junior Mastermind. We went to the IMAX cinema instead... I can heartily recommend Polar Express 3D IMAX by the way...

Next time...
