K contermark on republican coin?

Recommended Posts

Guest phrygian

Hi.

I have recently aquired what apears to be a roman republican coin (silver denarius). On the obverse there is a head onto whick there is a small letter K stamped. Has anyone any idea what this means, or if it means the coin is a copy/fake?

I have been searching the net for the past couple of days and have not found a solution - yet!
