the 2017 was a good one, the 2018 looks even better, so looking forward to getting that soon.

While I was there I picked up a strike your own 50p or 4 :)

Sold one on ebay for 50 quid which pretty much covered the outing, might go again while its a worthwhile trip!

Surely someone on ebay could not have been so stupid as to buy a coin that someone else struck (alledgedly?)  for £50

The great brittish public surprise me every time with their moronity.

The Strike your Own coin *at the moment* is a 2018 Isaac newton 50p - These will never be released for circulation, so the only 2 ways of getting one are go and strike one, or visit Ebay where people are paying bizarre money.

No idea what they'll get to in future, but I have a couple set aside in case it gets silly :)

*note  - Strike your own is one per preson and costs £5 (or 2 for 7.50 so go with a friend )

Well as each day goes on there is more of them and all will be put away.....or sold (to be put away ) :).

If they were mine i would have put two on ebay already why you got £50 for the other one.

No i wouldnt......i would of put all three on :D

I made the mistake of thinking my daughters wouldn't want theirs, given their disapproval of my other numismatic interests ..... silly me, the current generation seem to believe that new + shiny = better than old stuff.

I bet they would sooner have £20 than one ;)

Food for thought... but I think the answer will be "I can get 50 quid for it on ebay!"

I didn't raise 'em silly ;)

Remember when the mint work out theres money to be made here ,they will end up putting their own packed isaac newton coins on for £15 and kill the secondary market on these coins on ebay stone dead

They don't actually sell 2018 Newtons, thats what makes them so unique - few minted, not for circulation and not sold elsewhere at all (excepting ebay).

What this does show looking earlier is how many decimal collectors there is.

Looking at compleated listings of the one mentioned they are selling hundreds :o

Indeed, and by virtue of that, there is hope that some of them will go on to realise the beauty of older coinage.
