Heads - Edward VII, tails Britannia. Just curious to know whether it's worth anything. I'm not a collector - it fell out of a box after I moved house recently. Thank you for any information.

If it's an average example with signs of average circulation it won't be worth much I'm afraid. To have a value if will need to be better than average, with good amounts of hair detail on the king and definition on the reverse too. A mint condition example will be a dark shiny black colour, as they were all chemically darken at that time to avoid be confused as Half Sovereigns.

No, haven't got a picture. The coin is a bit mucky, writing very clear on both sides, Edward's head clear but not much hair detail (I take it it's just the beard we're talking about - looks bald to me!), Britannia a bit worn, edges not worn. It had to be too good to be true, didn't it - finding a valuable coin in a box. Maybe we've got Italian lire knocking around in the attic, although I can't imagine a lira being worth anything! Thank you.
