Nederlands Banknote

Recommended Posts

Ok, I know this is a coin forum, but I think that someone on here will know a thing or two about banknotes.

Question: Can anyone tell me what this actually is and other information about this note?

Side 1

Side 2

Date Close-up

Side 1 reads: DE NEDERLANDS BANK, below that is Betaalt Aan Toonder VIJF EN TWINTIG GULDEN, with a 25G below that (25 Gulden?). Bottom has the signature of what looks like 'Rahunty'(?) with Director below that, and beside it is signed ? President. The letters DNB are to the left of the note (presumably De Nederlands Bank(?)).

Side 2 reads: 1AD with the serial number of 096678 and dated Amsterdam 7 Oct. 1943.

The note is very delicate, and I do not want to try and unfold the creased edges as the note may tare.

The only history that I know behind it is that my Grandad picked it up from a tea shop/café in Holland or Belgium.

:)

I'd have a feeling that in that condition it would probably be worth very little. Although it was made during German occupancy, which is interesting.

I wonder if the national Netherlands bank will exchange it for Euro?? (It's probably too old)

Nice wee note. Do we have any Dutch Nationals on the board? When I lived in Limburg I tried to collect all sorts of old notes/coins..aiming for some really old ones surrounding the change of borders and gov'ts etc. Never really spent enough time tho.
