Whilst checking through my George V pennies I found a possible new variety , which is a 1911 penny with a raised dot just to the left of the date . I can’t see any evidence of tampering or altering of the coin . I would appreciate any opinions fellow members might have about the coin , thanks .

It looks like such a perfect ‘bead’ relative to the condition of the donor coin that I’d personally be thinking it was an old ‘spatter’ of something unconnected with its minting…soldering, braising, weld, etc.?

Maybe so, but there is wear on the raised dot similar to both the date alongside it and to the similar size official minted dots and lettering on the other side of the coin

Interesting. I don't there was ever any consensus on the dot on 1922 pennies which looks quite similar.
