Unidentified coin

It's taken a while to get registered but I'm sure I am going to benefit from skills and knowledge far in excess of mine.

My initial query is about a really poor quality coin belonging to a friend of mine. I have drawn a blank in trying to ID it, so maybe someone can make suggsetions. I have included a colour image (no the coin isn't blue!) and a monochrome from the same original which may be more helpful. The coin appears to be bronze-like and is approximatel 25mm on its longest "diameter".

A picture of the other side might be useful.

As far as I can see the date at the base is 1727, and above that may be JUN XI - June 11th 1727 was the date on which George I died and George II assumed the throne, so this may well be the remains of a medallion commemorating this transition. Not sure about the OCT thereafter! Style is certainly typical of 18th century.

Bearing in mind the angle of my photo and the poor condition (the other side was so bad I didn't even bother to photo it). I guessed the size, so and original 34mm is quite possible.

It looks like it has been buried in the soil for a century!! Thank you very much for your quick response.  HenryC
