Hi,

I was wondering, are copper coins with an even, dark green patina desirable to collectors or not?

Regards,

Jon

I would say not.

The verdigris will spread and destroy the whole copper collection.

Keeping the coins in a damp loft etc will encourage verdigris.

Patina and verdigris aren't the same though... I have seen lots of Roman coins for sale with stable green patinas. Doesn't seem to be as acceptable on more modern coins though :)
