Hello Paddy, I cant be of any help, it would be useful to see the obverse to others in the know, and some times the latin may be helpful, as I did with the scudo that I found in a tub of mixed coins,  I will be watching with interest...... all the best

Not sure if this will help as the reverse picture is even worse:

Hi Paddy, sorry I missed this one!

Well from a quick look it’s a Calais legend (Villa Calis) to the reverse and an annulet issue so screaming Henry VI annulet issue halfpenny, and a likely mule? Is it still of enough interest to you for me to dig deeper?

Thanks for that, and stand easy please.

I spotted it coming up at a non-coin specialist auction, incorrectly labelled as a "Charles II hammered coin"! I was considering bidding on it if it turned out to be Henry IV or something else scarce, but I suspected Henry VI. I left it - hammer price was £40 this morning.

Thanks for the info and I am relieved I left it.

Yes, I know. I tried posting there and kept getting "403 error" so I tried here instead and had no problem.
