Silver Elizabethan 3penny bit

Recommended Posts

Guest Threepenny bit_I'm_a_Guest

Hi, have been tasked with finding out whether the following coin is of any value at all...

it is thought to be an Elizabethan silver threepenny bit, the 18mm variety my research leads me to believe, though I havent seen it yet just had it described to me, it was found during some excavation in merseyside and is said to be in very good condition tho I am not a collector so do not know the exact perameters that would grade the exact condition of the coin.

I think the date on the coin is supposedly 2 years after Elizabeth becoming queen, which by my calculation would make it 1600??? not too sure. All help would be much appreciated.

By the way I registered under the above name and the forum would not let me post, tho when I logged out it would as a guest. <_<

hmmm, after looking more I am doubting it is a threepenny bit as the dates are out by miles... again any help in coin value, say links to helpful sites would be great!
