Has anyone else had dealings with this American firm? I bought a pocket scale from them on 4th August and it arrived OK on the 9th. But it did not work. Numerous attempts, following the scant directions, proved fruitless. Since then I've emailed them eight times - it appears I need an RMA number from them before they will replace the item. I've even had an email from another user suggesting a cure, again without success.

I am still awaiting the magic RMA number so I can return the beast!

I'm beginning to wonder if the firm is legit? Any thoughts?

I'd made the cardinal sin for e-bay! I hadn't looked at the postage being charged! £9.50. Should have told me something. The seller is UK based but the service is USA based. Do I spend more money sending it stateswide (without much trust in the company) and incurr more money, or do I cut and run?

If you bought it from a UK based supplier acting as agent for a US firm your contract is with the UK supplier and not the US one. They are the people who you would have a claim against. If they are a business, it may and certainly should be possible to get to them through trading standards. I don't know how you would get to an individual other than to file in the small claims court.

Thanks Rob! I did contact the vendor who just put me on to the "customer service department" of the manufacturer who were supposed to send a RMA number so that I could return the thing for repair. They didn't. As I want a servicable scale and not a refund, I don't intend to pursue the financial aspect. In any case as the thing was bought on an e-bay auction for £1.50, the main cost being the postage of £9.50 I would think the vendor has covered himself. I thought e-bay was going to stop that practice? I'll try one last shot at the vendor and see what developes!

The problem has been solved! There were two sources in the USA and they were working in isolation, but now I have an accurate scale, thank the Lord!!! The whole thing was due to my misreading the address and going to the wrong one! Mea culpa :(
