Farthings, bright or not

Recommended Posts

I have noticed on a certain auction web site lately and have bought a couple possibly to my cost several farthing that are bright even BU of EdV11 vintage or pre 1918 GV. Is it likely that someone has stripped these or are the bright ones also okay.

Hi Gary

If you like farthings I suggest you nip over to ColinCooke.com

It will be a good start.

If you've being buying off Ebay you may well kick yourself...Post 1920 are vastly overpriced.

Good advice from Peter. Be suspicious of any farthing dated 1898-1917 as having "missed the toning pot," unless it is for sale by Colin Cooke. In my book, no other entity has the credibility of that dealership when it comes to farthings.

Black BU farthings of those dates are really the only way to go. If they appear red, they likely have been stripped as you suggest.
