George II Shilling

Recommended Posts

Guest maxie121

Hi there,

My daughter bought a collection of coins from a car boot sale , and in with all the pennies etc we found a George II shilling dated 1747.

Although it looks very old it is very clean and shiny, is there a way of telling if it is a reproduction.

Many thanks

Debbie

You should be able to post a picture here using the 'You may attach a file to this message.' option when you post.

I know that reproductions of that kind of thing exist, and they are usually crude. The real thing should be real silver, and the fact that it is clean and shiny is not good news even if it is a real one.

Need to see a picture really.

Right you are then.

You may find scanning it works better, if you have a scanner.

Hmmmm, a bit blurry, but I would say that it looks like a repro to me. I'm sure a couple of other members will have opinions too.

If you can send it to me and enclose £5.00 to cover the recorded postage back to you and a couple of quid for myself, I should be able to tell you for sure

Thanks,
