hello, i have been asked a question about a old 1940;s penny but am unable to answer. i would be most grateful if some one on here could answer it for me:-

In which year (i think in the 1940's) were only six penies issued?

I think you're thinking of 1933.

There were plenty of penny coins minted in the 1940s, ranging from 14 million in 1949 to 80 million in 1945. You are probably thinking of the 1933 penny which I believe is now thought to be as many as about 12.
