Edward III Penny

Recommended Posts

Edward III linkOK! Peeps! Here is the problem. Nowhere in Spinks or Coincraft does this coin appear. Points I'm trying to find are:-

Single annulet stop.

Annulets in only two opposite quadrants of the reverse.

All on a London minted coin.

Has anyone any thoughts or can point me to an identification? I tentatively have this as a Fourth Coinage (Pre Treaty) variation Class G, but I'm really guessing!

Second thoughts!

The reproduction of the photos in the link have shown annulets in 4 quarters of the reverse! These are not apparent on the coin!

Hammered coins with 'bites' out are acceptable to me. I could never follow my hobby if I collected only whole VF coins - I haven't won the lottery yet! <_
