Guest wally Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I have a very small coin about 1cm in diameter. One side has the date 1840 with the numbers 1 1/2 in the middle. The other side has Queen Victoria. Does anyone have any information on this coin is it British homeland or a colony coin.Any advice would be helpful, I've tried numerous searches on the internet and nothing that matches this coin. Thanks Quote

They were first issued in 1834 and last issued in 1862 for general use, though there was a proof issue in 1870. 1840 is the rarest and thus the highest priced year for the Victorian pieces. Spink gives 2006 prices of £8-fine, £22-VF, £75-EF and £150-UNC. Quote
Guest wally Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Thanks, that is exactly the coin. That's an amazingly quick response. Quote
