1905 Penny

Hi, I have a 1905 english penny that someone gave me when I lived in England years ago and I recently found it again. I was wondering if I should be more carefull with it than to just throw it in the jar with my other foreign coins, it is the oldest one I have. It is very worn on the face and feels quite smooth to the touch.

Looking through your site I think it is bronze and it looks exactly like a picture I found on this site of a 1905 penny. Except for being rather worn. Here's a pic of my penny.

I also have a few Half Penny's, one from 1935 with the same images as the 1905 penny and 2 others with ships on the front and Elizabeth II on the back with what looks like a laurel wreath. The dates of those are 1957 and 1966.

I don't imagine they are worth much of anything but should I take better care of them or does it matter?

Thanks.

If they are all in the condition of the coin shown, then all of them are likely to be of no value as a collector's piece. Any bronze produced in the last 100 years or so has to be mint state or virtually so to be of any value and even then the valuable pieces are restricted to a few rarer varieties.

The Half Pennies are in better shape than the penny in the pic. But I doubt they would be worth more than the shipping it would cost to send them to someone who wanted them.

Thanks for the reply.
