George V Maundy

Can anybody help me with a couple of queries about George V Muandy sets?

Firstly, I am re-building a 1913 set from individual coins, and concerned about how to identify a genuine Maundy 3d, as opposed to a currency version.

Secondly, I have a 1926 set, and would like to know whether this originally came in a box or pouch, and if so what it would look like i.e. size, colour, covered in leather, embossed and if so what the lettering should say.

I guess I would also like to know what sort of case the 1913 set should have, as well as the 1926 set.

Can anybody help please?

In general Maundy 3d are bright even proof-like whereas the currency 3d is dull by comparison. 3d's often appear on fleebay as bright uncirculated which are most likely maundy issue.

Dave,King George V Maundy coins are actually very difficult to find,not only because of their low mintages,but because the coins are still being retained for sentimental reasons by the descendants of the recipients.

Not impossible to get hold of. Spink have nearly the whole George V run on ebay at this moment.

PS if anyone has a spare 1910 1d laying around I have a good home for it.

Gary,the 1910 depicts King Edward VII,not King George V.I have got 1 King George V Maundy coin.I also have the 1946 Maundy 2d. & 4d.,& a 1964 Maundy 4d.Of course,I have got most reigns represented in Maundy money.

Aidan, I think Gary probably knew that 1910 would have Edward VII on it! He never said it did, just that he was looking for one.

Do you think you could possibly stop crashing every topic and teaching the experienced 'Grandmothers' here to suck eggs? We are grateful for your input, but the fact of the matter is that most regular members here seem to have greater knowledge than you do.
