Hi all,

My name is Joe, I'm 14, I collect Fifty Pence Coins with different faces from around the globe. I have 95 different ones, and I just added this to my collection:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1

It's a 2003 Coronation anniversary silver proof set of 12 fifty pence coins from Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney. I don't know much about it, but I love it! It has a booklet, certificate etc.

Does anyone have any information on it?

Thanks!

Hi Joe - welcome to the forum!

I did a quick search for these 50ps on the internet. It appears that the Alderney ones were only released in silver (ie no currency issue) - the Guernsey ones don't say but the link to the Westminster Collection suggests they too are only commemoratives.

Do you have currency coins in your collection too Joe? Any 'modern' coins I have were just picked out of change!

Yes I do! I have tons from Isle Of Man, Jersey, Guernsey, Gibraltar, and of course the UK.

And Thanks for checking them out! It's a Beautiful set! I'm trying to figure out the Gallery section so i can post some pictures of my favourites!

I have an enamelled 50p from The Isle Of Man, with the Snowman and James on it.

Everyone seems really nice here!

Thanks!

Joe

Welcome Joe!

Saw a peculiar 50p on ebay last week. It was obiously a pattern or medal, but had a handgrenade motif! Unfortunately it must have been bought, as a quick scan reveals it's now gone! Know anything about it? B)

I've got a completely blank 50p, it just a 7 sided blank with a raised rim and absolutely nothing on it. Looks like it was missed at the mint.

Wow, a handgrenade! Are you sure it was a fifty pence?

All I can say is that it was 50p shaped and the seller described it as 50p, but that doesn't mean much! I think it was a token of sorts. B)

It was a modern handgrenade (not the old pineapple) So that places it firmly in the last 50 or so years. The shape is not really an age indication. Wish i could find the picture for you, but no success yet.
