Here's a section that will interest most of you, especially those who are members of the Anglican Church, like myself,& those who are history buffs, again, like me.This section is about the English coins that were struck at the ecclesiastical mints of Canterbury,York,& Durham.

Who has got at least one? If you do,then can you please give us a detailed description, including the name of the Archbishop or Bishop who ordered the coin(s) to be struck,& which King?

I have got an English 2nd Coinage (1526-32) 1/2 Groat of King Henry VIII,which was struck at Canterbury under Archbishop William Warham, who was the penultimate Archbishop of Canterbury who ordered coins to be struck. The last Archbishop of Canterbury to order coinage to be struck was Thomas Cranmer, who is remembered today as a martyr in the Anglican Church. This particular coin has unfortunately got a small hole.My boss bought it off another dealer & was going to take it back to him, when I examined the coin.I said to him,"You'd be a mug to take this coin back,as it is an ecclesiatical mint coin struck at Canterbury. These coins are good pieces worth looking out for.".I ended up getting this coin as payment for services rendered.Archbishop Warham's coins have the letters 'W' & 'A' flanking the shield on the reverse of the coin.

Aidan.

I've got an Edward Lee halfpenny in my gallery section. I've also got an Archbishop Warham 1/2d and have had a couple of Thomas Rotherham pennies in the past but have sold them

I can only offer two very poor examples.

Edward III Archbishop Thoresby of York c1361. Thin flan and weak strike not enhanced by being buried in some sort of acid soil!

And, of course, Henry VII Archbishop Rotherham of York c1500 ( split in the post - it was bent before dispatch!)

I haven't discovered a better way to post images!

Scottishmoney, that is a very fine Anglo-Saxon ecclesiastical mint coin.

Correct! I have a couple more from the York mint but they are so bad that you cannot make out the reign! B)
