coin identity....plz help!

I have recently found this coin in my garden, would like to know any information about it or its origin.

It appears to be an Edward I penny Class 10cf3 of London. That's as far as I can tell from your picture. "New Coinage" with solid long cross reverse. A fuller coin would make the class alocation easier!!

Edward reigned from 1272-1307. Your coin dates from 1279.

It may not be worth much, but it's a thoroughly fascinating thing to find and a great talking point with the neighbours. You never know, there may be more and in better condition where that came from.

I think it would make a nice diplay piece, if you framed it along with some information. After all it might not be worth much but it is a part of the history of your house or a least the land its on.

On a full flan with a nice strike it would be collectable....trouble is London mints are common and coming out of the ground (via detectorists) faster than the numistmatic market can handle...a bargain for your grandchildren no doubt.
