I thought the reverse would bring it down to a VF

I would give the whole coin a nice GVF (obv. check wear on curl in front of ear and on leaves), but it does look nice and could approach EF prices.

I agree for wear, but I'm not so convinced about its appeal. Put it this way, I'm not sure I'd want it (but these things are entirely subjective).

Yes and they look at world coins through american eyes with vastly over inflated ideas of value. There was a guy on another forum asking the value of a 1953 scottish proof shilling. Another american came back with $150, it was soon pointed out that they were common and $15 was closer to the truth.

am I missing something obvious here? 1891 penny

Gouby gives date widths of 14.5, 15 & 15.5 teeth, final "1" is over a tooth so probably teh common 15 teeth (BP1891Ab)

He's wrong about ÇCGB - it's £340 in UNC not EF. So if he's wrong about that...

Although not quite as ridiculous as the Heritage auction price, a 1901 NGC MS65RD penny just fetched US$400 on ebay Sunday (Feb 21). The buyer was Aspen Park Rare Coins.

Can these silly prices sustain themselves?

I'm not particularly taken with it, to be honest. And that 1934 Crown looks EF at best. Still, I'm sure both will find buyers at prices that make our jaws drop.

Gorgeous, though I do hope those marks on the bust are actually on the plastic & not on the coin? Way out of my league but worth keeping the pictures.

Yuk...Artificial toning has no place in my collection

US collectors often pay incredible sums for toned coins, many of which had help getting that way.

Yeah. But don't they just sit them on the TV to make them tone - I would've thought you could just buy a BU coins and do that yourself, save some money.... :P

20p undated coin rare trusted ebayer in great conition EBAY YES SPELT LIKE THAT!

Hi why is this undated 20p getting two bids price currently £4100 when all the others sell for around £60???

Comments please. Could it be the ultra nice condtion or shill bidding (two bidders with very low feedbacks...)

Don't know why anyone would bother listing at start price 4k when so many others on the market for 50 quid. Another Ebay laugh???

Thanks Russ7777

Must be shill bidding in order to make people think that it is actually worth that money, as you say, they are only worth around 30-50 max, send us the ebay link to it so we can all have a laugh, i personally will email him asking what his bestester BIN price would be lmfao, maybe we should all email him, he'll think he's onto a winner.

Here's another, she states quote "Relisted Due To A Non- Payer If You Have Nothing To Do Or You Are Not Concerned About Your Ebay Account Then Go And Pester Some One Else, This Is A Serious Auction For Serious People!<<<<<<<<< (is she serious) Must cost these people a fortune to list a 50 pound coin at 3.5 million

I put it down to genuine stupidity. I've been offered somewhere in the region of 50 to 100 of these and from day one I've turned them all down. Prices quoted have ranged from a serious £5,000,000.00 (he geuninely thought that was what he would get and that I was trying to rip him off by quoting £30.00 right up to the point where I said I wouldn't buy it anyway even at £30.00). Only yesterday I had a text saying £3,000.00, no offers, and an address to post the cheque to :-) These people genuinely believe the undated 20p's are worth a fortune!!!!!!!

Oh well, at least it's calmed down a bit and eBay seem to be removing the total rip off merchants although in my opinion anyone who's bought a genuine undated 20p for more than £20.00 has been ripped off :-(
