I've actually bought a few coins from this seller and have been quite happy.Just ignore the grade and buy the coin.

They certainly do come well packaged :)

You are right Dave..he does slab his own coins. The grading is usually in his "favor" also! <gggg>

I would'nt touch his stuff with a bargepole to be honest. His grading is appaling. He had one up a few moths back at MS70. Not even PCGS have graded anything at that grade.

I have too, and have been similarly satisfied. Not delighted, but satisfied. It'd be nice if he took the photos before slabbing them, but I've opened them all and got rid of the slabs. Only because I don't have a nice and tidy way of storing slabs, mind.

If I had more slabbed coins, and had sorted out the storage, I'd have kept the slabs but ditched the labels. You don't have to destroy his type to open them.

Hm, interesting. Perhaps I'll buy some of his coins then if other people have bought them and found them to be decent. I've always had bad experiences with buying self-slabbed coins, usually involving either faked coins or nasty rim dings the slab concealed.

This isn't the preserve of self slabbed coins. I've had a few that I wouldn't have bought had I known about the edges prior to purchase. All courtesy of the big two TPGs which p's you off a bit when you have just spent many hundreds or even a bit more. They do appear to have quality control - whereby the visible knocks get rejected and the hidden ones are slabbed, presumably on the assumption that nobody in the US would want to break out a coin. And you can't complain, because they would reply that it must have happened when you broke it out. One reason for marking down a slabbed coin.

I quite agree. I had 2 or 3 looking like that which went in the bin on the grounds that not even Scott would be interested in them. I didn't have the nerve to try and ask for money for them and at approx. 10p scrap value for the metal there wasn't any hidden value either.

I agree, the coin is nothing more than a slug.

I was sent a MS66 1953 quarter (PCGS) from my American buddy.Silly money.

I felt guilty of sending him some UNC raw coins. But I did send a couple of hammered. :)

Well, you say that. But it's actually London Coins, a UK firm. Of course it shouldn't be too surprising given their interest in swaying us all to the benefits of slabs. But £80?? For a £2 coin? Will anyone buy do you think?

It's the London Coin Company, not to be confused with London Coins Ltd who have the close link to CGS UK.
