Not a laugh, more "it pisses me off" seller states its AU as per Holder, but what he's obviously not stating that it's an AU American Grade which is in effect an EF british Grade, then states it's the finest, when if you read further, its actually JOINT finest 221005640115 but it's only joint finest graded by NGC obviously

I guess though that most people who are in the market for one of these, really ought to know about the American grading system? I guess we'll all be hand led and spoon fed once eBay collaborates with the grading companies. It'll be like listing a mobile phone soon, where you HAVE to check various boxes to even get it on...unless you want to list it as a fobile moan or something. :-)

When you say "My link", do you mean that's your coin you're selling?

No 'My Link' was the default name given when I posted the post. To me that crown looks cast....maybe

I absolutely agree. I didn't like to say so before, as I thought it might be your listing. It definitely looks dodgy and very much like a casting.

So back to this one then. I emailed the seller and she said you 2 are talking utter pish lol. Her name is Louise BTW, very nice young lady, apparenlty been doing ebay for 9 years and knows her sheeeeet

Probably from a population numbering 8 examples? Joint last, then! :-)

Fake 1905 halfcrown?

the 5 looks decidedly dicey to me...

1905 halfcrown

Let's hope not for the buyer's sake!

Would anyone care to post a pic of their 1905 HC, I would like to see a high grade one! (It wont be me, mine is gF)

It won't be mine either, but there is a good one (EF or better) in the forthcoming DNW auction (21 Jun 2012). It's the best one that I've seen. Estimated between £3k and £4k.

If you're after a fake, that'll do nicely.

If I was in the market for one of these (I'd love one, one day), I'd certainly do my research well in advance. But, if this is indeed a fake, I have to say that upon first impressions i wouldn't be able to spot it from the pictures alone, not without being pre-armed with any pre-purchase research, that is!

It isn't 1807 either, the date being on the coin is always a good clue

I do like it though, I think it may well be the bronzed proof and well worth the BIN price, sorry I meant well worth throwing in the BIN.

This must be what is sometimes referred to as an impaired proof.
