Fake 1905 halfcrown?

the 5 looks decidedly dicey to me...

1905 halfcrown

Let's hope not for the buyer's sake!

Would anyone care to post a pic of their 1905 HC, I would like to see a high grade one! (It wont be me, mine is gF)

Here's mine, any good?post-462-005669900 1335547548_thumb.jpg

If you're after a fake, that'll do nicely.

If I was in the market for one of these (I'd love one, one day), I'd certainly do my research well in advance. But, if this is indeed a fake, I have to say that upon first impressions i wouldn't be able to spot it from the pictures alone, not without being pre-armed with any pre-purchase research, that is!

Yes it is a fake, I wish someone would point out any clear indicators though as I can't tell the difference

He calls this NF EF...shocking :o

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220982252411

Even more shocking is some poor fool actually bid £3 for it. With p&p that's £4.50! Wonder if he'd like to buy some of my scrap at that price?

Check his sold items. Some peanut brained chin dribbler actually paid him £10 for a crappy 1912H. I must have over 200 lying around here. Maybe I should contact the seller and offer him my stock at 30% of his retail?????

Absolutely, anybody out there already done the legwork on this one and holds information that would help in the identification of a genuine 1905 halfcrown?

But he bought Coin Market values from W H Smiths.Trouble is a spruced up F is only worth £1...and that is if you can get some mug to buy it.I'm afraid these go in the BIN pile (not Buy it now) :)

Though to be fair to the seller, who's done me no harm in the past, he did start at 99p.

56 bids later its all gone a bit gaga.

This one surprised me:

http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_3946wt_1044

It all looks very altered, but look at the price!

That looks very much like an altered 1964. Scuffing on both sides of the last 1. Whoever paid that price must be cursing.

61 bids,4 bidders only and it would seem inexperienced muppets. :o

use a dealer

i agree......although it seems to have become a bit fashionable here of late to give dealers a good slagging off.

ebay is becoming less and less useable in my opinion,

the serious collector, can judge grade, but the newbie, less so.....

shilling is rife on high end pieces on ebay, but boy does the novice get caned on the ordinary pieces by anyone out to make a fast buck.......anyone with a tin of duraglit or the like.

god help the novice.........cant trust ebay....cant trust dealers.........sad

Well the seller does say that it's a carefully crafted from a genuine coin by altering the date. Guess I'll go with that as an explanation. Surprised some people have bid it up to £29 though.

Oops, didn't notice that £29 was the starting price!!!!

A 52 2/6 (would and has George V1) on the obverse).

Quite a novelty though.
