Unless the coin is 100% Unc I let the picture do the talking.Why is the prat grading...when he clearly hasn't a clue?

Some of the Edward V11 stuff would only sell as bullion.

Could be preparing a nice big insurance claim for himself? Uncirculated prices from the insurance company for a fire- damaged bag of bullion coins? Keep your eyes open for a listing saying 'welded lump of scrap/bullion sterling silver coins .925 457g Not Gold lot collection'!

He tells me he"s been in the business 50 years, i asked how that was possible with the grading. Perhaps he's 90 now and blind?

So i offered him to come along and join in the discussion about his grading and here was his reply.

This one's briliant. A VF G3 halfpenny described as aUNC for £165.99 all in. Described as dark copper (gilt?) 'Unfortunately with a slide die of the press new system', for which read hefty edge knock and buggered rims. I despair. Perhaps I should send him a few scans of a higher/lower grade gVF (depending on viewpoint) and explain the difference between visible laurel detail and flat surfaces. This guy is a complete tool, and consistently so. Maybe a picture of a gilt coin or two would put him right on both fronts. I'm also blind as I can't see SOHO on the trancation (sic)

he does spout complete bollox.....its just fantastic how everyone else can be soooooo wrong in his opinion......we all make mistakes from time to time, but this guys cornered the market.........and people are buying his coins

im just amazed hes been a dealer for 50 years and survived..................

If this reference to Spink in 1912 applies, he might have a point. But I bet you would beat him hands down with your knowledge of penny farthings.

I can't believe anyone takes him seriously, his replies are bizzare and his grades are weird.

Apparantly, Brittania's holding a 'truncation' on the reverse. That must be the truncated olive branch. Or perhaps he meant 'trunk'!

You should have replied YES as i use a 2012 Edition lol. Maybe he does'nt realise that there is another edition out lol

Oh I don't know - since he was being quizzed by the Press about some controversy or other, then clearly Cantona himself was the trawler, and the Press were the seagulls hoping for sardines, though I feel that comparison is desperately unfair to seagulls

I watched the interview that was done with him last year where he stated that he made the line up on the spot and it meant bugger all.

It still means more than the lines that ebay tool is using though. Where do you all find the time or self restraint needed to actually communicate with him?
