Books are the seed of world education. It's immaterial the subject. Frankly, the society we are rounded for, it had people for whom literature passed by, and then create a forum where they find likeable souls. Coins as such, bring a major interesting point of looking back, and sometimes they ignore the reason to un-quivalent determination to rise options for their condition (grade). However, nothing have been taken to create a singularity opinion and establish a decisive situation that another soul need to be told how wrong, but leave theirs right. I bring back some received member correspondence to activate that the coin above would be compared with another coin of different date, though and on the book (you disliked!), I quote ..."three coins were struck on dies of same type (above) coining presses at Edinburgh " unquote... with different prices through three grades, and a single with a mark "E". Finally, who had printed prices and choose each grade?. Surely not you, on 18th Century! Regards.

When the seagulls follow the trawler, its because they think sardines will be thrown in to the sea

There is a mental hospital just on the outskirts of Dundee called Liff, i wonder if he's escaped. Oh and BTW i really did understand Cantonnas Seagull trawler quote lol

Bollocks!

I watched the interview that was done with him last year where he stated that he made the line up on the spot and it meant bugger all.

It still means more than the lines that ebay tool is using though. Where do you all find the time or self restraint needed to actually communicate with him?

Anybody with enough spare time and patience to converse with a looney please feel free to contact my wife as it may take the heat off me :D

He would say that NOW wouldn't he - he wants to stay on the right side of the media these days, his whole career depends on it! :D

I have emailed him twice.

The first time telling him it was a pewter replica.

The 2nd time asking him why he hadn't added this to the listing.

Reported to ebay who do diddly.

I reported it this morning too! He's a 'top' seller with a lot of feedback, bet they ignore it!

What really annoyed me about this one was the blatant 'what is it'? You mean he couldn't actually read ELIZABETH on the edge of the coin and, putting two and two together (ie the date), realise it probably isn't Elizabeth II?

And another! 170906386505 please do add link please!

I cannot believe the earlier one went for £84 and this one is at £30+!!!! WTF are people who clearly know nothing doing bidding on replicas? There should be the equivalent of a driving test or you need to have your IQ checked before joining ebay. Seriously, I don't know whether I feel more annoyed at the sellers ripping people off or that these numpties deserve to get their fingers burned for being taken in.

OK, because I'm nice it's obviously the former, but people need to learn before they spend. If I had a couple of ebay accounts to burn I'd relist using the seller's photos and a blistering description showing these things aren't worth more than the couple of ££ they cost at most museums and stately homes.:angry::angry:

What's the betting he flipped it and it made a metallic ringing sound and he thought 'aha! Silver'? Which is almost as accurate as looking at it and thinking 'hey, that looks silver' and listing it as such. Shame only winning bidders can rate sellers for accuracy and so on.

Good that it's gone though ... Now if only ebay would say why a listing was ended early or closed .. that would be useful to future buyers.

Knowing the name of the person who tested it might help too.

Trouble is Rob, I suspect not everyone who says 'tested' means what we do. Spit and aluminium foil, a cheap metal detector, a 'ring' test are not scientific in the way we'd understand, but people use them and for all I know trust the 'results'.

I'm pretty sure the 'testing' didn't however involve either weighing the thing or doing a google search for similar items though.

Not a laugh, just an interesting (to me) coin. Ebay no 350597432623 As some will know, Stephen pennies are notoriously .. well, crap. Finding anything that's not off centre, weak or even getting one that's easily identifiable is a challenge.

And while this is far from perfect, I was very much taken with the detail on the arm and sleeve. I'd assumed that the dies for this series were just poor, but it appears that wasn't always the case. Shame the rest of the coin isn't a bit better (though it does have 'eye appeal') An EF (or just good VF) example would I think be stunning!

Possibly Watford type (BMC. I), London, Wulfword, [….]D:ON:L[….]???

With you on this one! Even as is it's aesthetically appealling; what a sharp arm strike and incredibly pretty, compositionally speaking! An EF would be something to behold!

I'm still trying to crank someone down from £1800 to a more realistic price for a keeper Elizabeth I, proving to be a tough nut, would love that penny though if price were no issue!

Glad to see another Pewter Elizabeth 3D bite the dust! It doesn't take too many 'winges' from the community to make it count! ;)

It ought to be good for that price!! I did see a shilling for £1300 and thought of you, but the seller only (!) tends to add about 25% premium, so not so much scope for a reduction until it's been on the books for a while.

I made an offer of £155 delivered for a coin when the BIN was £350.I got it.It was on Ebay for about 4 times relisted.Every one knows a selling price.

I have a few good trusted Ebay dealers who I will always trade with. :)

Very hopeful: 300777011911

"EF condition" EF in this case being, er .. extra flat?? And as for " the price that fit's the coin", well, I think it depends on the size of font you use for the numbers, don't you? Sorry, that should be don't you's, I think.

Oh, please, how do you do that? 'Timeline Originals' out you go!

Do your normal search, then find "Seller" down the left hand side. Hit "Specify Sellers", then in the box that pops up, choose "Only show items from", "Exclude", and paste your blacklist in the little box that doesn't look like it has enough room for it. Do the list in a text file first, and separate the names with a comma, but no spaces (you're limited by number of characters, and spaces count).

Don't forget you can rid yourself of an awful lot of crap with judicious use of wildcards in the initial search box too - here's mine:

-1967 -197* -198* -199* -200* -201* -olym* -"Isle of Man" -framed -holed -enam* -polish* -token -damag* -empty -india -gibr* -decimal -proof -pattern -mother -wedd* -churchi* -£5 -£2 -£1 -diana -sover* -gold -keyr* -aldern* -jers* -guern* -1p -20p -50p -commem* -cuffl* -millen*

Then save your search using the link at the top.

Be aware though, that eBay, bless 'em, have a technical fault at the moment with advanced searches, and if your results only show gallery pictures for the first 11 items, you've fallen foul of it. They are working on it, they assure me. It's something to do with the complexity of the query - the more complex it is, the more likely you'll have the problem. Mine, predictably, is horrendously complex because I try to filter out 75% of all the British Coins on there, if I can. Used to work fine - it's only in the last week or so that their problems have occurred.
