I know what I'll do, I'll tack 3 rare coins and make them even more valuable by gold plating them.

Its like a lottery. Get a proof/mint set and submit in a couple, if any get a "perfect" 70 you get 4-5 times the money than even a 69 will. More than makes up for losses, plus I think you can get bulk rates if you submit enough.

Quite silly that people pay 4-5x the money for a coin lacking just a small nick or scratch that a 69 will have.

Give me a 69 any day.

I sometimes despair at the work you put into people like Platt and this numpty *surrey coins* only for people to continually buy from them. I just hope no one here has done or else i'm coming to your door with a pair of nutcrackers, there will be tears :)

The other surprising Thing is that surrey has had only 2, Negs in 12 months. Obviously some very uneducated people out there.

Oh BTW Peter, he has 2 of those AUNC 1874s, http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3a7c0d3559

Anither high grade http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1878-Half-Crown-High-grade-Rare-/271112021827?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item3f1f892743 and if you look through the rest, apparently all of George V silver is rare dates

Its not a bad grade but he's obviously angling for UNC money as he's stated the spink book price. I'd give it GVF from the pictures, REV wreath is kinda flat

Why has the numpty dipped it?

He has spoilt a nice key date coin. :(

Sad but true. I've bought some really attractively toned examples on the cheap over the years, yet seen bright, lifeless, cleaned etc sell for far more. That is a plus on ebay for people who like antique toned original surfaces, but a bit of a bugger for those who want full lustre.
