Well ... perhaps someone can find a use for those?

Pretty cool, though I'm not sure how comfortable that sofa would be!

I just hope they went through all the coins first to pick out any rarities before they trashed them.

I somehow think the world will not run dry of washers to utilise. The results are not unattractive.

I must admit to only giving the scrap pile a cursory check, mainly for the odd better quality coin. I'm certainly not going to check every washer for rare dates or varieties before they get consigned to the pot, and past experiences on ebay suggest people are reluctant to even pay a quid for 100 meaning they can't be bothered to search either. Saving the planet from un-necessary mining activity is the next best thing. :)

You do make me smile, Rob! I'm just so, so, glad you don't take this whole thing too seriously! I couldn't take you seriously otherwise! :-)

As I approach my fourth birthday, I'm thinking of settling down a bit and becoming more responsible. But I will draw the line at checking washers.

Our favourite ebay seller is not Content with making an arse of his own ebay Name, he's moved onto his wifes and is now making the same greedy mistakes as he did before. So, this one sold on the 1st of June

http://www.ebay.co.u...1055%26_rdc%3D1 it was a private listing but sold to r**6 with a 2620 Feedback

He obviously did'nt like it because it was relisted a few hours later here

http://www.ebay.co.u...2605%26_rdc%3D1 again was a private listing but was shilled by bought by his mate anthonys so that's 56 quid just in fees alone, wonder when/where he'll actually sell it at a loss

Oh BTW, 1st had 5 bids, the 2nd had 36 bids, obviously step bidding so as not to go to far over the genuine bidders bid, but seemed to have made an arse considering he's buying it himself

His greed is only exceeded by his stupidity. But then again, he is obviously confident that eBay won't see anything suspicious, nor will they see a business being run through an individual's account.

I'm sure you've told us before Dave, but how do you see the identities of 'private bidders'?

Also, I can never quite understand things like this :

£222 29-May-13 17:22:23 BST

£25 29-May-13 18:27:39 BST

How does a later bid of £25 even register, when an earlier bid jumped it up to £222 ?

Because the earlier bid of £222.22 only had to beat a bid of £7.77, so was winning at £8.27. Then another bid came in at £25.88, which was immediately beaten by the £222.22 bid, which was then winning at £26.88.

And again:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330934945977&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:3160

Great heaps of Churchill with possibly the most ambitious ask to date.

£100 for the lot doesn't seem too bad if you're going to a US coin fair and can off-load a few. But £45 postage!!? Ouch!

You may have read that wrong Richard. £100 was just the Start bid, he wanted £1100 BIN

Oh, I just assumed nobody would be daft enough to pay that! But it might be worth an £100 bid if you were sure you could get rid of the things!

Though I have to say the phrase "200 uncirculated Churchill Crowns in sealed bankers sack, never been opened" does bring the words pig and poke to mind! .... :P

So why don't they show the £8:27 bid, they do usually I think? Otherwise it looks ridiculous. Or at least, adjust the timings so it looks like a proper auction.

After all, if an auctioneer has a commission bid on his books, he keeps going up against the floor until one or other of them drops out, but if commission wins it, he doesn't show the timing of the bid as "two days before", or whenever the commission bid arrived with the house - it's the time of the sale.
